Legendary Don Bradman’s ‘baggy green’ to be auctioned (Twitter)
The iconic ‘Baggy Green’ cap of the legendary Don Bradman is set to go under the hammer and the excitement among cricket aficionados is palpable as they want to own the piece of history. Bradman wore the cap during the 1947-48 series when India toured Australia, marking the Asian side’s first overseas Test matches after gaining independence.
Bradman’s cap is estimated to fetch between USD 195,000 and 260,000, which translates to potentially more than INR 2 crore. This staggering amount might not seem much for cricket enthusiasts who love to collect souvenirs because it doesn’t get much bigger than this.
The Baggy Green was donned by Bradman during the 1947-48 series. The series was obviously memorable for India but it was special for Bradman too as he amassed a whopping 715 runs from six innings during the series, notching up three centuries and a double century.

Meanwhile, legendary leg-spinner Shane Warne’s Baggy Green was sold for USD 650,000. The second-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket passed away in March 2022 due to a heart attack. The cap was auctioned to raise funds for Australian bushfire victims.
