England’s star pacer Kate Cross has been appointed as the Non-Executive Director of the Lancashire Cricket Foundation. The 31-year-old will attend her first Board meeting in September 2023, after an open application and interview process. She will soon begin to assist the Foundation in increasing participation in cricket, as well as developing and delivering a variety of projects, programs, and events aimed at engaging, exciting, inspiring, and improving individuals and communities via cricket.

Cross, who began her career at Heywood Cricket Club, received the opportunity to join the Lancashire Academy and became the first female cricketer to be a part of it. She made her Red Rose debut in 2007 before making her international debut against the West Indies in 2013, finishing with figures of 4/51 and receiving the Player of the Match award.

The 31-year-old has played 77 games for England across formats and last featured in the Women’s Ashes series contested in July at home. She has formerly played for Thunder and the Manchester Originals and is currently playing for the Northern Superchargers in the Hundred.

It’s a huge honour to be appointed to the Lancashire Cricket Foundation Board of Directors: Cross

Kate Cross stated that her appointment to the Lancashire Cricket Foundation is a big honour for her. She praised the foundation and expressed her excitement to see what they might accomplish together in the future to make an actual impact in people’s lives.

“It’s a huge honour to be appointed to the Lancashire Cricket Foundation Board of Directors. The Foundation is a fantastic charity, which I’ve seen first-hand over the past 10 years as an ambassador, and I’m excited to see what we can continue to achieve together to make a real difference to people’s lives.

“Having come through the system at Heywood Cricket Club, I’m hugely passionate about the growth and development of grassroots cricket and that we get as many young girls and boys as possible involved in the game. I’m looking forward to working with the wider Lancashire Cricket Foundation team in the coming years, to ensure we inspire the next generation of cricketers across the North West and beyond,” Cross said.
