The return of Gautam Gambhir as mentor to his former team Kolkata Knight Riders seems to have worked out well. Shreyas Iyer and his side are sitting second on the IPL 2024 Points Table ahead of the Sunday afternoon clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the iconic Eden Gardens. 

Sunil Narine (109 off 56) stuck a century in the last game for his side in the eventual loss to Rajasthan Royals. The two-time IPL winners enjoy a good record at home since the start of the league in 2008.

The fast outfields and the great batting strip makes the Eden Gardens a favourite for most of the batters. The historic venue also gets to witness a sea of support for KKR during the home matches, making it an unnerving sight for most of the opposition teams.

This will be the 85th home game for Kolkata Knight Riders’ at the iconic Eden Gardens stadium. The home team are just one win short of registering 50 wins in the IPL in front of their crazy home fans.

The game on Sunday is set to be a day encounter, so dew will be out of question. Since the summer is in full effect, the pitch could take a beating in the first half of the game, making it difficult for the batters. Chasing could be the most viable option, as seen during the KKR vs LSG game earlier.
