Nitish Kumar Reddy made his Test debut in the first Test against Australia in Perth. He looked in good touch, scoring 41 and unbeaten 38 in two innings and picking Mitchell Marsh’s wicket. Later, he featured in the warm-up game against Prime Minister’s XI, where he scored 42.
Reddy, who retained his place for the second Test in Adelaide, has thanked senior batter KL Rahul for supporting him. Reddy revealed that he heads to Rahul for a solution whenever he faces any issues and the latter’s advice always works for him.

“If I face any problem regarding anything, I just want to go and talk to KL bhai. I somehow feel that good vibes from him like whatever suggestion he gives it works for me. He said ‘Macha when you are going to the centre, you feel everything is going so fast, don’t go so fast, slow down the game because my first match went in my way. I went there and everything happened in a few seconds, I didn’t know what to do’. That really helped me and before going to bat, he gave me suggestions,” Nitish said in a video released by BCCI.

Notably, Nitish was nOt in the scheme of things as far as red-ball cricket is concerned. The cricketer had a stellar IPL and he made it to the T20 squad for the Zimbabwe series. However, he was ruled out due to an injury and finally made his debut in the home series against Bangladesh.
Indian team management wanted to have a fast-bowling all-rounder for the Australia series and Nitish fit the bill and was called up. He looked impressive in the first Test but the pink ball game will test his skill in the second game in Adelaide.
