Aiden Markram’s half-century,  followed by a sensational century from Harry Brook saw SRH defeating KKR by 23 runs in the 19th match of Indian Premier League 2023 . 

Nitish Rana won the toss and decided to field first. SRH openers got off to a flier as Harry Brook toyed with the potent KKR bowlers all around the ground in the powerplay, scoring 46 runs in four overs. Andre Russell drew the first blood for KKR as he struck twice in his very first over to send both Mayank Agarwal and Rahul Tripathi packing. However, skipper Markram and Brook kept the scoreboard ticking by adding valuable 72 runs for third wicket. Aiden Markram rose to his maiden fifty in IPL 2023 before getting dismissed for 50 off 26. 

Abhishek Sharma soon joined the party as he along with Brook kept the momentum going as they added 72 runs for the fourth wicket. Meanwhile, Brook rose to his first IPL century in just 55 balls that included 15 boundaries. Cameos from Heinrich Klassen and Abhishek Sharma down the order helped SRH post a massive total of 228/4 in 20 overs. 

Chasing 229, Bhuvneshwar Kumar drew the first blood on just the third ball of the second innings as Rahmanullah Gurbaz departed for duck. Soon Marco Jansen sent both Venkatesh Iyer and Sunil Narine packing in the fourth over. However, skipper Nitish Rana and N Jagadeesan added valuable 62 runs for fourth wicket. At the close of powerplay, Rana went bonkers against Umran Malik, smashing 28 runs in the sixth over. Andre Russell, meanwhile, continued his poor form as he was dismissed for 3 runs in 6 balls. 

Rana and Rinku Singh added 69 runs for the sixth wicket. Nitish Rana registered his 15th IPL fifty before getting dismissed for 75 off 41. Rinku led the fight back in the end with 31-ball-58* which wasn’t sufficient for KKR  to get over the line, eventually losing the match by 23 runs.

4 – Harry Brook (24 Years 53 Days) registered his maiden IPL century and became the fourth youngest overseas player to achieve this feat. Quinton de Kock (23 Years 122 days) tops the list followed by David Warner (23 Years 153 Days) and David Miller (23 Years 327 Days). 

2 – SRH registered their second highest total of IPL, scoring 228 against KKR. Their highest total (231) came against RCB.
