The Big Bash League 2023-24 is underway in Australia as the fans have already witnessed five action-packed games in the ongoing season so far. Apart from the breathtaking cricketing action on the field, Big Bash is also known for its star-studded commentary panel having likes of Ricky Ponting, Mark Howard, and Damien Fleming among others.

For the ongoing 13th season of the T20 extravaganza, the official broadcaster of the league ‘Kayo Sports’ has onboarded one of the biggest voices in international cricket, former India cricketer turned commentator Ravi Shastri. The 1983 World Cup winner made his commentary debut in Big Bash during Match five of the tournament between Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Sixers on Monday, December 11 at North Tasmania Cricket Association Ground, Launceston.

Shastri got a warm welcome from his co-commentator Mark Howard who addressed him as ‘one of the biggest broadcast names on the planet’. On the other hand, Aaron Finch who was also present in the commentary box called him the ‘king of commentary’ and ‘voice of cricket’.

Notably, Shastri is one of the most prominent voices in international cricket having lent his voice to some of the biggest moments in Indian cricket such as Yuvraj Singh’s six sixes, India’s 2007 and 2011 World Cup wins and many more.

Shastri’s addition to the commentary panel will likely help BBL to attract more Indian fans who can never get enough of his energetic voice.

Sydney Sixers won their second consecutive match of the season

Meanwhile, coming back to the match, after being put in to bat first, Hobart Hurricanes scored 135/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Caleb Jewell was the top scorer for Hobart with his knock of 42 (24). On the other hand, Tom Curran was the pick of the bowlers for Sydney with figures of 3/19 in four overs.
