West Indies star pacer Kemar Roach is set to return to Surrey for his fifth consecutive season for the county. The 36-year-old Barbadian cricketer has also expressed his excitement about playing with the county team once again and is looking forward to give more consistent and incredible performances going into the upcoming season for the defending champions.

The Surrey County Cricket Club has been on a great run in the last three seasons, where they have won three consecutive championships. Kemar Roach has been an influential part of the squad, especially in the last season, where he took 20 wickets in eight matches while playing for the defending champions. Roach has also opened up on how he has enjoyed the last four years playing for the team and also mentioned that The Oval, their home ground, is like a second home to him and praised the team environment as well.

“I’ve enjoyed every moment of my time with Surrey over the last four years, and I’m excited to join up with the team again, The Kia Oval is my second home and the environment led by Alec Stewart, Gareth Batty and Rory Burns is one of the best I’ve been a part of. I’m looking forward to contributing to more success for Surrey in whatever way that I can,” Roach said as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

Speaking of Roach’s performance in the county, he has played a total of 28 first class games for Surrey and has taken 93 wickets at an average of 25.60. He will be available for the first four matches starting with the game against Essex which will begin next Friday on April 4. Surrey’s high performance cricket advisor, Alec Stewart also opened up on how the ace pacer has been a valuable asset to the team.

“Kemar has been a big part of our dressing room in the last four years, and it is great to have him back. His quality, work ethic, and commitment to the club speak for itself. I am confident he will once again play an important role at the start of this season, and the group is looking forward to working with him again,” the former England cricketer said.
