People loved seeing some of the biggest Indian legends come together and see that during the iconic memorial of Ramakant Achrekar who had coached the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli. The two were seen at Shivaji Park and paid tribute to their coach, and it was great to see them have a heartfelt moment together as they pay tribute to their guru.
The scenes of Kambli at coach Ramakant Achrekar’s memorial went viral, and fans have already started discussing his worrisome state during the appearance at the event. One of his closest friends, first-class umpire Marcus Cuoto, also talked about the health issues the former India cricketer has been going through recently and how much they have affected him right now.
“He has severe, multiple health issues. There’s no point in him going for rehab—Kambli has already gone to rehab 14 times! Thrice we took him to a rehab in Vasai,” Cuoto told as quoted by TOI.
1983 World Cup-winning squad happy to help Kambli
Former India speedster Balwinder Singh Sandhu, who was part of the 1983 World Cup-winning team, also added his comments on Kambli. The ex-India international revealed that the fraternity of India’s 1983 World Cup squad will be more than happy to help Kambli with rehabilitation financially, provided he checks himself into a facility.
“Kapil (Dev, captain of the 1983 team) has told me clearly that if he wants to go to rehab, then we are willing to help him financially. However, he has to check into rehab himself first. Only if he does that, we are ready to foot the bill, irrespective of how long the treatment lasts,” Sandhu said.
