Jos Buttler returns from injury as England name squad for West Indies tour

Jos Buttler returns from injury as England name squad for West Indies tour

Regular Captain Jos Buttler makes his much-awaited return to white-ball cricket as England announced their squads for the limited-overs format. Notably the English side are to tour West Indies, which is scheduled for later this month.

Buttler who was away from the action after sustaining a calf injury, had to miss the recent white-ball series played at home against Australia. In that series, England managed to level the T20I series, however, they missed out on claiming the ODI series by a whisker. In his absence, Phil Salt and Harry Brook were handed the leadership roles.

Now speaking about the squad, among new faces, an uncapped legspinner Jafer Chohan found a spot on the national side. Chohan has played 23 games in the T20s but he is yet to play a List A game in his career. Apart from him, Dan Mousley and John Turner are the other two uncapped players. Interestingly, both of them were part of the English squad in the recently concluded series against Australia but warmed the bench.

All in all, England has named a 14-member side while it was also revealed that two more players will be added to the national side from the players who will be playing the Test series against Pakistan in the coming days ahead. Notably, the final selection will depend on what will be the composition of the team for the Third Test, scheduled for October 24, in Rawalpindi. While speaking of the tour date, England will cross swords with West India from October 31. During the tour, both sides will play three ODIs and five T20I games, respectively.
