Indian off-spinner Jayant Yadav has joined Middlesex in the ongoing County Championship. The 33-year-old will be available for the final four games of the season and has expressed his excitement to join the prestigious county club. Notably, Jayant has represented the national team at one point, playing six Test matches and picking up 16 wickets.

He also played county cricket for Worwickshire last year and has experience playing on English soil, which will help him in the ongoing edition. After signing for the club, Jayant mentioned that he is eagerly looking forward to the new stint and is ready to contribute to the team’s.

“I am honoured and excited to join the prestigious Middlesex County Cricket Club for the upcoming Championship games and be a part of its rich cricketing history. I enjoyed my experience of playing county cricket last year and am eagerly looking forward to the new stint with Middlesex and contributing to the club’s success,” Yadav said in a club statement.

Notably, the spinner will be available for selection in Middlesex’s upcoming match against championship challenger Essex at Chelmsford. After that, he will play against Lancashire, Warwickshire and Nottinghamshire.

To sign a spinner of Jayant’s quality was too good an opportunity to turn down: Alan Coleman

Middlesex Director of Cricket Alan Coleman expressed his delight upon Jayant’s arrival. He mentioned that the team management is looking for Pieter Malan’s replacement and looking at Jayant being available, he didn’t waste much time to sign the India international on board.

“We feel that spin will be an important factor in September and the opportunity to sign an international spinner of Jayant’s quality was too good an opportunity to turn down. He brings us that extra bit of something you get from an international cricketer, experience, quality, know how – all attributes that will prove hugely valuable to us in the coming games,” Coleman mentioned.
