Former national selector Jatin Paranjape has called out ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling performance during the second Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Paranjape opined that the pitch at the Adelaide Oval had a lot to assist for the bowlers, but the Indian bowling unit missed the trick completely with the pink ball.

His criticism came after India were bashed at the hands of Australia, who thrashed the visiting side completely with a 10-wicket win to level the series 1-1. During a recent interview, Paranjape was asked about his opinion on Bumrah’s display during the Adelaide Test, which was a Day/Night affair. He assessed and pointed out the difference between India’s bowling in Perth and in Adelaide.

“I thought the Indians didn’t bowl as well as they did in Perth. I think the Australians kind of bowled much better than what the Indian team bowled. (Also) I thought Bumrah was a little bit off-colour,” Paranjape told as quoted by News18.

Not bowling well in Adelaide was a miss: Paranjape

As the former selector had expressed his take on Adelaide Oval’s assistance to the pacers, he further revealed problems with line and lengths delivered by the Indian bowlers, which eventually did not help get breakthroughs more often.

“I don’t think they pitched the ball as further up to the batters than they should have. So this is the big reason why Australia went on to get a 150-run lead. The wicket in Adelaide helped the bowlers a lot, and not bowling well there was like a big miss for India.” Paranjape concluded.

Speaking of the third Test, the much-anticipated game is scheduled to be held at the iconic Gabba in Brisbane, which has been a fortress for the Aussies. The Indians have had a taste of success at the ground with their historic win here during the 2020-21 tour. The upcoming match will start from December 14 and is slated to be a five-day affair.
