Flamboyant batter Travis Head lauded Jasprit Bumrah ahead of the second Test against India at Adelaide, slated to begin on December 6. Head stated that the Indian pacer will go down as one of the greatest fast bowlers in the history of the game.
The ace pacer was phenomenal in Perth, picking up eight wickets to be adjudged as the Player of the Match. Notably, in the second innings, when Head was putting India under pressure, Bumrah picked up his wicket and got his team back into the contest.
Meanwhile, speaking on Bumrah’s carnage, Head highlighted the difficulties in facing the pacer and added that facing Bumrah is something he will be telling his grandkids. Head also noted that courtesy of playing India a few times, he has started to learn what to expect from the team.
“Jasprit is probably going to go down as one of the greatest fast bowlers to play the game. We’re finding that at the moment, how challenging he can be and it’s nice to play against that. It’s going to be nice to look back at your career and tell the grandkids that you faced him… Hopefully, I only have to face a few more times as he’s been challenging,” Head was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
“I’m best when I look for the cues, when I’m just preparing to watch the ball hard and staying fresh mentally. I think I’m lucky that I’ve faced him a few times and come across him a fair bit. So I just go back over recent times, and times I’ve faced him. We’ve been very fortunate to have played against him a lot so I know what’s coming, it’s just making sure I’m prepared and fresh to start well,” he added.
Head also clarified that the Australian team is not divided. Josh Hazlewood’s comments regarding the batters were criticised and it gave birth to speculations of a possible rift in the team but Head said that it is not the case.
