Despite being one of the most consistent performers in the domestic circuit, Priyank Panchal is yet to make his way to the top. The cricketer has been in the scheme of things for quite some time but an India debut is still far from his reach. In the last edition of the Ranji Trophy, Panchal scored 583 runs at an excellent average of 116.60 but still, the selectors didn’t consider him for the upcoming two-match Test series against the West Indies.

Thus, frustrations and disappointments are bound to creep in but Panchal is not ready to give up and he remains optimistic about the future. The 33-year-old also opened up about Jasprit Bumrah’s message to him who asked Panchal not to expect anything as it creates unnecessary pressure and sometimes ends in disappointments. The batter instead wants to play his best cricket and leave the rest to destiny.

“I think now I am focused on working hard and looking forward to playing in Duleep Trophy. I am keen to help my team become a champion. Apart from that, IPL is something that obviously I would love to play and I have been working hard since last 3-4 years to help my white-ball game and I have scored runs also,” Panchal was quoted as saying by News18.

“I generally talk with Jasprit. He has played a lot of cricket for Gujarat and has gone through this situation a lot where he is expecting something and it didn’t happen. So he always told me to not expect anything. If something comes my way, it will come eventually. So as an athlete, it is important to not run behind peace or success as it will come if it is meant to be,” the cricketer added.

Notably, Panchal has played 111 First Class matches and scored 7901 runs in the process. He has also led India A multiple times in the past but couldn’t crack the code in the national team.
