Indian Women’s team is under a conundrum as the slot for the third spinner has become a point of concern. The first two slots are occupied by the star spinners Radha Yadav and Deepti Sharma with both of them being exceptional in the red ball as well as white-ball games for India, making them irreplaceable. The other slot is up for grabs between young Shreyanka Patil and Asha Sobhana.

It is worth noting that, playing for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in WPL, both the spinners plucked several wickets, becoming the top-two wicket-takers in the 2024 edition. Shreyanka is an unofficial all-rounder for the team as she can bat down the order and Asha is known for her crafty wrist spin. However, former India captain, Anjum Chopra, pointed out that while deciding one between both the spinners, the player with more variety could be weighed in.

“Well, whether they are looking at it or not, that question probably can be answered by the team management. If I have to pick skillful spinners in the lineup, I would want a left-arm spinner, off-spinner, and leg-spinner, because then I get the actual variety,” said Anjum as quoted by NDTV Sports.

“Then the second question comes of the form. Radha Yadav is coming back into form. She had a decent One-day, a first game, didn’t have a good second game, but finished well in the third game (and in third T20I too). So it’s also about feeding off each other, and Shreyanka brings a lot of value to this lineup in terms of her bowling, fielding, and also can bat,” he added.
