After the conclusion of the much hyped Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the focus is now shifted towards the ODI series. India will be playing a three-match ODI series against Australia, with the first ODI starting on March 17 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

It will be an important series for both teams considering that the ODI World Cup is around the corner. India and Australia have a lot of injury concerns, and they will be looking to end this series on a positive note and try to get their team combinations correct.

While former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra feels that it is going to be a hard fought series for both teams and did not pick any favourites to win the series.

“When I see Australia’s ODI squad, I feel it is good. It is a team that will push India. It is not going to be a 3-0 series. It can go 2-1 in either side’s favor. I will not say that it can go only in India’s favor,” Chopra was quoted as saying on his YouTube channel.

Chopra said that David Warner and Travis Head will be a sturdy opening combination for Australia in this series. Aakash Chopra also highlighted Australia’s strong middle order with Marnus Labuschagne, Mitchell Marsh, and Glenn Maxwell back in the Australian squad after a long gap due to their injuries. He also quoted their power hitters in the lower middle order, the likes of Marcus Stoinis and Cameron Green, who will be playing the IPL on this ground in a few weeks.

“David Warner, who has been practicing in the Mumbai lanes, and then Steve Smith as the captain. Travis Head is doing well as an opener. David Warner and Travis Head’s opening combination is going very well and Travis Head is actually batting very well, we saw that recently in the Test matches,” Chopra added.
