Star India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal is all set for the side’s upcoming home season. Under the guidance of new head coach Gautam Gambhir, team India will aim to put their best foot forward and register victories.

It is worth noting that Gambhir has led India to a T20I series win against Sri Lanka and an ODI series loss against the same side so far. Despite the shaky start, the former opener has had quite the effect on the squad. Recently, Yashasvi Jaiswal took centre stage and talked about the effect that Gambhir has had on the lineup and how he motivates the players to give their best.

“Yes, I have spoken with him during the Sri Lanka series. He really backed us, saying just go out and play freely and enjoy the game, and we will be with you. It gives us a lot of confidence and helps us to play fearlessly,” Jaiswal was quoted as saying by IndiaToday.

I am working hard at nets ahead for Duleep Trophy and Bangladesh series: Jaiswal

It is worth noting that Yashasvi Jaiswal is currently honing his skills for the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024. Shortly after the domestic tournament, India will be taking on Bangladesh and New Zealand across several Tests, and Jaiswal will hope to be in his best form for the series.

“I am working hard at nets ahead, first for the Duleep Trophy and then for the Bangladesh series. It’s not about setting personal goals; as you know in cricket, you have to be consistent and keep working on your skills,” Jaiswal said.

Furthermore, the dashing left-hand opener also talked about how domestic tournaments like the Duleep Trophy and the Irani Trophy go a long way in helping to prepare for international assignments. He revealed that such tournaments are intense in nature. As a result, he gained confidence and just tried to remain in his zone.

“Domestic tournaments like Duleep Trophy and Irani Trophy are very important games and they give me a lot of confidence and help me prepare for those (international) games. I try to remain in my zone and contribute to the team’s winning cause. You get to learn a lot of things in tournaments like Duleep Trophy and it is very good for you to play such intense games ahead of a Test series,” he added.

Yet to make his debut in ODI cricket, Yashasvi Jaiswal has cemented his place as India’s opener in T20Is and Tests and will hope to get a shot in ODIs soon as well.
