The Ireland Women are all set to take on the reigning world champions, Australia, in a highly-anticipated ODI series in their former’s backyard. The series will begin on July 23rd and it will conclude on July 28th in Dublin. In the same vein, Ireland Cricket have announced a 14-player Women’s squad, featuring some notable inclusions. One such inclusion is Jane Maguire, who is making her return to the team after recovering from injury. What makes this selection even more special is that Jane’s younger sister Aimee has also been named in the same squad, marking the first time the siblings will be playing together at this level.

Amy Hunter, the Irish wicketkeeper-batter, expressed her excitement about the upcoming series and the challenges it presents. Reflecting on their recent tour to the Caribbean, she acknowledged the team’s moments of promise but emphasized the need for complete performances to compete against the best sides. Hunter also highlighted the significance of the series against Australia, as it is their only home action this summer. Regarding her own form, Hunter acknowledged areas of improvement in her batting.

“As for my own game, There are a number of areas that I’m working on with the coaches around technique and learning to read the situations of the games a little bit better. I’m just looking forward to getting the chance to test myself against the world’s best over the next 10 days,” Hunter was quoted as saying by Cricworld.

Recalling their victory against Australia in a T20 World Cup warm-up match earlier this year, Hunter expressed confidence in the team’s ability to compete with top sides when their plans align. She urged fans to come out in numbers to support the team, as their presence creates an incredible atmosphere for cricket. As the anticipation builds for this enthralling series, cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the clash between Ireland Women and Australia Women.
