Fresh news has come out that Indian all-rounder, Shardul Thakur, currently representing Mumbai in their Irani Cup 2024 game against the Rest of India, has been discharged from Medanta Hospital today after being admitted post Day 2’s play due to him suffering from a viral infection.
Any sort of serious illness has been eliminated as per the latest medical reports. However, it remains unlikely that Thakur will take the field during the first innings of the Rest of India. It is reported that Thakur might join the team in the dressing room, provided that his recuperation is on track.
Yesterday, a source shared the main reason why Thakur came out to bat at the position he came out to the middle (number 9), as well as the team management awaiting results for a couple of diseases.
“He was not feeling well for the entire day and was running on high fever, which was the main reason he came out to bat late. He was feeling weak and he slept in the dressing room after taking medicine. But, he wanted to bat despite feeling low. We have got his blood test done for malaria and dengue. We are waiting for the results. Till then, he will spend the night in hospital,” a source was quoted as saying in a report by The Indian Express.

Despite Thakur not taking the field post Mumbai got all-out early on on the third day of the game at the Ekana International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, it was always going to be an uphill task for the batters of RoI to close in on the deficit, let alone surpass it.
