The IPL 2025 Mega Auction is all set to have 577 players see their names go under the hammer for limited spots up for grabs. Out of these, only 205 players will be lucky enough to have ‘sold’ in front of their names. Out of these, a total of 70 players can be overseas, including both capped and uncapped.

However, once the list of 574 players crosses the 116th name, an Accelerated Round will begin. The BCCI, in its release, explained that these players will not go as usual, and it will be up to the franchises to nominate a collective list of 38 players, who may be considered for a special round. The BCCI will also give a briefing of this process to the franchises on Saturday, November 23, which is a day prior to the auctions.

It is noteworthy to mention that an accelerator round usually involves players, which the organizer wishes to sell or offer bids in a quick succession to fill the total spots up for grabs. This will involve a total of 38 names, and players who have been unsold during their designated sets may be considered for selling once again.

“For your planning purposes, please note, subject to timings, it is envisaged that the accelerated process will start after player no.116. The first accelerated process will cover all the players from 117 to 574, Franchises will be asked to nominate a set number of players from this group by 10 PM on the evening of 24th November,” the BCCI said in its statement.

“Once these players (117-574) have been presented, franchises will be requested to submit the names of players (unpresented /unsold) from all those on the full list of 574 for further accelerated presentation. This will be covered in more detail at the auction briefing on 23rd November 2024,” it added.
