The 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction will take place on December 19, 2023, in Dubai. Eminent overseas players such as Mitchell Starc, Rachin Ravindra, and Travis Head are the favourites to emerge as top buys while Indian players Harshal Patel and Shardul Thakur can also be picked up at high prices.
However, some Indian players might get ignored by the franchises and can be seen breaking into the list of unsold players. These players haven’t looked in great touch in the T20 format for the last few years and this fact can make them unreliable among the franchises.
Here are three team India players who might not get buyers in the auction
3. Varun Aaron

Fast bowler Varun Aaron, who was a part of the Team India from 2011-15, has registered his name for the auction. His name will be announced with his base price of INR 50 lakh. The speedster has never played any T20 International (T20I) game for India but he has been active in the cash-rich league since 2011.
In his long IPL career, the pacer has picked up only 44 wickets in 52 matches at an economy of 8.94. Back in 2022, Gujarat Titans (GT) signed him up for INR 50 lakh but he failed to do wonders for the side. He got two matches from the team management but got only two wickets at an expensive economy of 10.40.
Aaron might go unsold in the auction as he hasn’t played any T20 match in domestic cricket for more than one year. Along with that, his mediocre numbers in the cash-rich league can also keep franchises away from his name.
2. Hanuma Vihari

Hanuma Vihari has also enrolled his name for the upcoming IPL auction and his reserved amount will be INR 50 lakh. Vihari has played only three seasons 2013, 2015, and 2019, and in all those editions, he failed to score big with his bat. His best performance came in his debut season in 2013 when he scored 241 runs in 17 matches at an average of 17.21.
In the 2023 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT), Vihari scored 229 runs in seven matches but he struggled to be among the runs against quality sides. His inconsistent batting display in the domestic T20 league might not interest the franchises to sign him up for the upcoming IPL season.

Kedar Jadhav, who served Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the second half of the 2023 IPL, is released by the franchise before the auction. The all-rounder played two matches for Challengers and scored only 12 runs in the season. Jadhav will go under the hammer again in the 2024 auction.
His base price is INR 2 crore which shocked a lot of fans. The 38-year-old has been active in the league since 2011 but in these years, he has scored only 1208 runs in 95 matches at a dismal strike rate of 123.14. His poor batting numbers and high reserve price might destroy his chances of getting a buyer in the auction.
Jadhav has never been a decent player in cricket’s shortest format and his T20 International (T20I) record also proves it. Donning India’s blue jersey, he has amassed only 122 runs in nine matches in six innings of nine T20Is at a strike rate of 123.23 and an average of 20.33.
