IPL 2025: Who received the biggest pay hikes after retentions?

The various retentions of the 10 IPL franchises were announced on October 31. The franchises announced which players they would retain ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, and many reports were confirmed on retention day. The likes of Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul were released by their respective sides.

On the other hand, veteran India batter Rohit Sharma was retained by Mumbai Indians. Amidst the many retentions, there were several stars who received significant pay hikes ahead of the IPL 2025. Continuing on the same, let us have a look at some players who received pay hikes compared to previous seasons.

7. Rinku Singh

Star India batter Rinku Singh was retained by Kolkata Knight Riders. The star batter became one of the players who received one of the biggest hikes compared to the previous seasons. It is worth noting that in the IPL 2024, Rinku Singh earned INR 55 lakh for the season. However, he was the top retention for the IPL 2024 champions and was retained for a whopping INR 13 crore, gaining a 2264% pay hike.

6. Shashank Singh 

One of the most talked about picks for Punjab Kings in the IPL 2024 auction, Shashank Singh came through for the side and was one of the two retentions for them ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Shashank was roped in by PBKS for INR 20 lakh, but he will receive INR 5.5 crore, which is a 2650% hike.

5. Sai Sudharshan

23-year-old India batter Sai Sudharsan received a huge pay hike. In the IPL 2024, Sudharsan represented Gujarat Titans for INR 20 lakh, but with his retention ahead of the auction, he will be receiving INR 8.5 crore, which attributes to a 4150% hike.

4. Mayank Yadav

Young India pacer Mayank Yadav took the IPL 2024 by storm with his stellar performances for Lucknow Super Giants. With his short stint for LSG, Mayank Yadav earned INR 20 lakh for the season. However, with his retention, he will now earn INR 11 crore, which is a pay hike of 5400%.

3. Rajat Patidar

Similarly, Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Rajat Patidar received a 5400% pay hike as well. In the IPL 2024, Rajat Patidar earned INR 20 lakh, and with his retention, he will now earn INR 11 crore, and will be one of the most important players for the side.

2. Matheesha Pathirana

Sri Lanka’s star pacer Matheesha Pathirana received the second-highest pay hike after his retention by Chennai Super Kings. In the IPL 2024, Pathirana earned INR 20 lakh, and he has received a massive pay hike after his retention. In the IPL 2025, Pathirana will earn a whopping INR 13 crore, which will be a 6400% hike.

Star India wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel is the player with the biggest pay hike ahead of the IPL 2025. Representing Rajasthan Royals, Jurel earned INR 20 lakh and after his retention, he will earn INR 14 crore for the IPL 2025, which attributes to a 6900% hike.
