The Match No. 2 of the IPL 2025 went in the favour of Sunrisers Hyderabad by a 44-run margin. The 287-run target proved to be too large for RR at the end. The first innings was built on the swashbuckling knocks of Travis Head and Ishan Kishan. Head departed for a blinding 31-ball, 67-run innings. Kishan, playing his first season for SRH, remained unbeaten on 104. Jofra Archer was smashed all around the park, conceding 76 runs in his four-over spell.
As for the second innings, after Simarjeet Singh struck twice to get rid of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag in the same over, Sanju Samson stroked an impressive half-century. He was accompanied superbly by Dhruv Jurel, both of whom struck fifties in quick time. However, RR could not recover from the dismissals of both their batters. Harshal Patel ended up with a two-wicket haul to his name, as SRH notched up a comfortable win at the end.
Key Moments from Match 2 of IPL 2025
1. Ishan Kishan tears apart Royals’ bowling attack
Playing his first game for SRH, Kishan looked on top of things right from the outset. Coming into the middle after the early departure of Abhishek Sharma, Kishan straight away got going by stroking four fours on his first seven deliveries. His first three maximums were off Archer’s bowling. Kishan brought up his half-century in 25 deliveries. The hard-hitting southpaw notched up his first ton in the IPL, ending up unbeaten on 106 off 47 deliveries. His blazing knock comprised 11 fours and six sixes.

2. Jofra Archer has a forgettable outing with the ball
Coming back into the RR setup after half a decade away from the franchise, Archer proved to be the most expensive bowler of his side. Not only that, his 76-run four-over spell meant he became the bowler to concede the most amount of runs in four overs in the extended history of the IPL. To make matters worse, he did not account for a single wicket. Almost every other SRH batter took a liking to Archer.

3. Abhinav Manohar plucks out a stunning grab to get rid of Yashasvi Jaiswal
Abhinav Manohar timed his jump superbly well to get rid of Jaiswal on the third delivery of the second over of the second innings. A hard slap by the southpaw was destined to race away to the boundary. However, Manohar’s leap exuded top-tier athleticism to hang on to the ball, which was travelling quite quickly.

4. Dhruv Jurel registers personal best in IPL
Coming in to bat at No. 5 and a mammoth total to chase, Jurel batted exceedingly well in conjunction with Samson to motor his side’s innings forward. The wicketkeeper-batter ended up attaining his highest score in the IPL. It was unfortunate that he was dismissed for 70 (35). His entertaining knock was a testament to why RR retained him ahead of the mega auction the previous year.
