IPL 2025: Rohit Sharma becomes fourth batter to amass 600 boundaries in tournament history

Mumbai Indians (MI) pro batter Rohit Sharma achieved a historic feat in the Indian Premier League (IPL) by completing the tally of 600 boundaries in the league. While playing against the Gujarat Titans (GT), he scored two back-to-back boundaries off Mohammed Siraj in the very first over to breach the magnificent landmark, adding another feather to his illustrious cap.

Rohit joined Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, and David Warner on the elite list of players to have hit more than 600 boundaries in the history of the marquee T20 tournament. After hitting the boundaries, the ace pacer had the last laugh, bamboozling through the defence of Rohit, as the middle and off stumps went rolling. This is the second-consecutive time he lost his wicket on the fourth ball of the first over.

Rohit failed to understand the ball’s length and had to depart on just eight runs. There was a huge gap between the bat and the pad, which allowed the ball to escape and hit the stumps.

Earlier in the game, GT put up a huge total on the board thanks to the top-order batters, who scored the majority of the runs. Sai Sudharsan hit a magnificent half-century, while Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler were dismissed in their 30s. It was MI skipper Hardik Pandya who played a crucial role in bringing MI back into the game.

He dismissed Gill first, and then Shah Rukh Khan went back to the dugout. The Mumbai Indians’ skipper was amazing on the field as well, doing run-outs and taking catches.

MI’s bowling wasn’t great at the start, but they took back control in the middle overs. Despite all attempts, GT somehow reached 196-8 in the first innings. In their response, Hardik Pandya’s batting unit failed miserably, falling short of the target by 36 runs.
