On expected lines, Punjab Kings (PBKS) appointed Shreyas Iyer as the captain for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The right-handed batter was roped in by the Punjab-based franchise at the IPL 2025 mega-auction for a whopping sum of INR 26.75 crore.
The right-handed batter led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) commendably in IPL 2024 and helped them win the coveted title after a long wait of 10 years. According to KKR CEO Venky Mysore, the three-time IPL-winning franchise wanted to retain Shreyas for the upcoming season but he insisted on entering the auction to test his market value.
