KKR aim to win second-consecutive title
Undoubtedly, KKR is the most successful franchise in the cash-rich competition after Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. While CSK and MI have won five times each, KKR have three trophies under their belt, coming in 2012, 2014, and 2024, respectively. This makes Knight Riders the team with third-most number of trophies. They will be aiming to up the ante from the previous edition, by defending the IPL title in the upcoming 2025 edition.
This time round, the team has found a terrific combination of experienced and youngsters in the mix. Veteran cricketer Ajinkya Rahane has been given the duty to captain the franchise this year, whereas, all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer has been appointed as the vice-captain by the defending champions.
Kolkata Knight Riders will begin their IPL 2025 campaign against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The tournament opener between the two sides will be played at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday, March 22.
