IPL 2025: GT vs PBKS, Match 5 – Stats preview of players’ records and approaching milestones

Gujarat Titans (GT) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) playing in Match No. 5 of IPL 2025 will complete the first round of fixtures in the ongoing tournament. Both teams endured tough times in IPL 2024 finishing eighth and ninth respectively.

Punjab Kings, as is almost customary at this point, went through a major squad overhaul at the mega auction. The big ticket signing was their new captain Shreyas Iyer – who had led KKR to the title in 2024 – for a whopping INR 26.75 crores. Apart from him, PBKS also brought in Ricky Ponting to be their head coach. Ponting has also won the IPL twice as head coach and had formed a successful partnership with Shreyas Iyer as coach-captain at Delhi Capitals.

Gujarat Titans will walk into this season with more or less the same core from last year, but they also have made big-ticket signings. Jos Buttler, Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj are some of the big names that the Titans added to spruce up their side.

PBKS Players’ Upcoming Milestones:

• Shreyas Iyer: Needs 26 runs to reach 6,000 runs in T20s.
• Marcus Stoinis: Needs 72 runs to reach 6,500 runs in T20s.
• Lockie Ferguson: Needs 4 wickets to reach 50 IPL wickets.
