While Steyn’s has revealed that he will not return in the IPL, but has confirmed his continued association with the franchise’s sister team, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, in the SA20 league. The 41-year-old took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to make the announcement.

Dale Steyn joined SRH coaching setup in late 2021
Under Steyn’s guidance, Eastern Cape has clinched two consecutive SA20 titles in 2023 and 2024. The veteran speedster’s IPL journey has been illustrious, having represented several franchises as a player, including Deccan Chargers, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Gujarat Lions.
The coaching setup at SRH has seen several changes in recent years. Steyn was initially appointed under head coach Tom Moody in late 2021. Subsequently, Brian Lara took over in 2023, followed by Daniel Vettori’s appointment as head coach for the 2024 season. Under Vettori’s leadership and with Franklin as bowling coach, SRH reached the IPL final in 2024, their first since 2018, before losing to Kolkata Knight Riders.
