The Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) mystery spinner, Varun Chakravarthy, made an immediate impact in his first over, dismissing Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Riyan Parag in the ongoing Match No.6 of the IPL 2025 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. The local boy, who looked in good touch, walked back for 25 runs off 15 balls after mistiming his shot.
Coming into bat at No.3, Parag had taken on the KKR bowlers, smashing three sixes in his short stay. However, he couldn’t attack Chakravarthy in the same manner. In the eighth over, the spinner bowled a length delivery outside off-stump, tempting Parag into a lofted drive. The ball, however, caught the toe end of the bat and went high into the sky.
KKR wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock, stationed near the pitch, immediately took off his helmet to get a better view of the ball. Despite the height of the ball, the South African judged the catch perfectly, coming under it at the right time and completing a clean take.

Following Parag’s dismissal, the home team lost another wicket in quick succession as Yashasvi Jaiswal departed off Moeen Ali’s bowling. At the end of 12 overs, RR’s scorecard read 84/5, with Dhruv Jurel and Shubham Dubey at the crease.
