IPL 2025: Akash Deep to join LSG camp ahead of clash against MI

IPL 2025: Akash Deep to join LSG camp ahead of clash against MI

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are in a tough spot this season after losing three consecutive games in the IPL 2025. To relieve them, pacer Akash Deep is preparing to play the upcoming match against the Mumbai Indians (MI) on their home ground, Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. Akash Deep sustained a back injury during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 and has not played in a single match since then.

The pace bowler debuted for LSG and has played very limited games in the IPL. He made his debut in 2022 for RCB and has played just eight games in the league. His performance has not been impressive, much as per the standards of the tournament, as he has taken just seven wickets.

However, his inclusion in the team will help LSG strengthen their bowling attack as they lack some lethal pacers. The absence of pacers like Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan has affected the team, which is pretty evident in the tournament. In the match against Punjab Kings (PBKS), the team failed to take more than two wickets.

Their struggle with the bowling line-up was exposed. This is the main reason why they need some good bowlers in the team, and Akash Deep can provide that important breakthrough.

Sanjiv Goenka and Rishabh Pant spotted having serious conversations

LSG lost their second game of the season against the PBKS on April 1. After the game, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka was seen having animated chats with Rishabh Pant, which were pretty similar to what he had with KL Rahul in IPL 2024. He was spotted pointing fingers at the captain multiple times during the lengthy chat, which landed him in controversy once again.

Neither Pant performed well, nor did the team. Their team combinations don’t look good either, as most of the batters failed to perform. It was Ayush Badoni’s (41 off 33) and Nicholas Pooran’s (44 off 30) efforts that helped them post a respectable total on the board. However, PBKS chased it and won the game comfortably by eight wickets.
