The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a brilliant stage for giving opportunities to young and talented players who are yet to showcase their skills to larger part of the world. The IPL committee has been giving out awards for the ‘Best Emerging Player’ in the tournament by a voting system. The cricket-crazy audience also plays a part in picking the youngsters for the award.

There are certain criteria for which the award is given to a player. A player must have played fewer than five Tests, 20 ODIs, and 25 IPL matches at the start of the season and must not have previously won the award. Like always, this year, too, many amateurs have announced their arrival on the larger platform with outstanding performances. In this article, we will talk about the players who have a good chance of winning the award in the 2025 edition.

Digvesh Rathi, a young player from Delhi, made his IPL debut for LSG this season. He came into the limelight from the first game itself as he took two wickets against the Delhi Capitals (DC). Despite going for three boundaries in the previous overs, Rathi dismissed captain Axar Patel, followed by Vipraj Nigam.

The second game wasn’t as impressive since he got a single wicket against SRH. However, in the last game against PBKS, he was the only bowler who got the breakthrough for the team. He dismissed the most dangerous batter, Prabhsimran Singh, who was playing on 69 runs. Apart from him, he also sent home Priyansh Rana earlier in the game. He has a high chance of winning the award as he has the potential to play well in the future.

Making his debut for KKR in 2024, Angkrish Raghuvanshi is a talented batter who has the power-hitting ability in him. Last year, he played ten games and scored 163 runs at an average of 23.28. This season, he has already scored 78 runs in three games. So far, his average is 39.

The player is just 20 years old and is well within the criteria of the award. Moreover, he helped KKR in the previous game when they were stuck in a critical situation. If he manages to continue with his performance and play some more match-winning knocks, he will surely book a place in the minds of the fans.

The 24-year-old Priyansh Arya from Delhi made an impactful performance in the Delhi Premier League (DPL), where he was spotted by the Punjab Kings (PBKS) franchise. They went after him in the auction and got him for INR 3.8 crores. The player didn’t upset the franchise and went on to score a blistering 47 runs in the first game of his IPL career.

Alongside Prabhsimran Singh, he gave a solid start to the game, helping PBKS score 243 runs. However, he failed to produce a good score in the next game. Since the tournament is quite long, it will be intriguing to see how the player performs in the upcoming matches.

Ashwani Kumar had a dream debut for the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The player claimed a 4-wicket haul in the first game, starting with the dismissal of Ajinkya Rahane to kickstart his IPL career. It was an incredible performance by the 23-year-old player, who has all eyes on him now.

The batters struggled to play against him, including the stalwart Andre Russell. MI have done well in unearthing the talent and giving him the much-needed platform to showcase his cricketing genius. Ashwani is definitely a contender for the award, and his performance in the upcoming games will be something to watch out for the fans.
