IPL 2024: Will Jacks remains confident of RCB’s playoff chances

Royal Challengers Bengaluru all-rounder Will Jacks is confident of the franchise making it to the playoffs of IPL 2024. He believes that the road is difficult but if they manage to win all the games and if other matches go according to the plan, RCB can once again make it to the playoffs. However, with just three wins in ten matches, the road seems difficult, especially when they are at the bottom of the table.

Jacks mentioned that they have started poorly but have found momentum in the last couple of games, which the team wants to capitalise on. He added that the team had long and hard conversations on their batting and strike rate as they were determined to score 200-plus totals, which has become common in the 17th edition of the tournament. He now wants to keep things simple and take one game at a time to fight for a playoff spot.

“What we have spoken about as a batting unit, is playing with freedom. At the beginning of the competition, we were probably behind the other teams in terms of run rate and not getting the results we desired,” Jacks was quoted as saying by News18.

“We spoke long and hard about how to get to those 200-plus scores that we have seen across the competition. And we have been doing that well, taking risks at the right time and putting bowlers under pressure. I wouldn’t say it adds more pressure. We just know what we have to do and we are keeping it simple and that’s what has been working for us recently. We are moving along in the right direction. It is a shame it didn’t happen a few games earlier but there is still a chance for us. We have four games left. We are going to try and give our best, one by one,” he added.

Jacks opens up about his new role

Jacks also opened up about his new batting position. With Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis opening for RCB, Jacks has been sent to bat at number three, a position that he doesn’t have experience of. Speaking about that, the Englishman stated that batting outside powerplay isn’t easy for him but he is learning and is taking a few balls to adjust to the conditions.

“It is something that I am adapting to. It is different. The hardest thing I found was coming in outside the powerplay. Normally when you face the first ball, you get a few to look at, and you can get your easy boundaries away and get yourself rolling whereas outside the powerplay, you have to play yourself in and it is harder to be 17 or 18 off ten balls,” Jacks said.
