The Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, a popular venue located in Uppal, Hyderabad, is named after former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. The stadium serves as the home ground for the Sunrisers Hyderabad during the IPL since the team’s debut in 2013.

It has hosted several international matches, including some memorable IPL events such as the first and final games of the 2017 edition and the 2019 final. Interestingly, the Mumbai Indians secured the IPL trophy in both finals through last-ball thrillers. Notably, Ravichandran Ashwin and Umesh Yadav achieved their first 10-wicket hauls in a Test match at this stadium.

Additionally, Alzarri Joseph’s spell of 6/12 against SRH in 2019 remains the best bowling figure in the IPL till now. The pitch at this venue is somewhat challenging for both batters and bowlers. While the short boundaries favor batsmen in scoring big runs, the dry surface can assist spinners and medium-pace bowlers later in the innings.
