IPL 2024: Royal Challengers Bengaluru to refund RCB Unbox live streaming fees

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) conducted their annual event RCB Unbox at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on March 19. A large number of fans attended the event at the venue while others chose to view it via the RCB app and website. Meanwhile, the fans got into trouble after the live streaming faced technical glitches due to “extreme demand”. Following this, the franchise started live streaming on their official YouTube channel, providing a sigh of relief for the fans. 

However, on March 21, Thursday, RCB took responsibility for the technical malfunction and announced that they would refund INR 99 collected from the fans. The franchise also acknowledged the inconvenience caused and promised a “seamless” experience in the forthcoming events.

“Dear RCB fan, due to extreme demand we faced issues with live streaming for RCB Unbox event. As a result, we are refunding everyone who paid for the live streaming of the event. Your refund has been processed. It must reflect in your payment account within 7 business days. Thank you for your cooperation and we will work hard to make your next experience seamless,” RCB said in a statement shared on X.

Here are the highlights of the RCB Unbox event 

During the star-studded affair, RCB inducted former pacer Vinay Kumar into their Hall of Fame. The franchise has officially changed its name to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, which is the new name of the capital city of Karnataka. They then unveiled their new jerseys which are in a dark blue shade instead of the previous black to compliment the red. 

The major highlight of the event was RCB’s women’s team, receiving the guard of honour from the men’s team after winning the Women’s Premier League 2024. The team led by Smriti Mandhana won the title, outplaying Delhi Capitals by eight wickets in the final held in Delhi on Sunday, March 17.

RCB fans have now turned their attention towards IPL 2024 which will get underway on Friday, March 22. The Faf du Plessis-led side will play the IPL opener against the defending champions Chennai Super Kings at the M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
