With just two days left in the commencement of the much-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Delhi Capitals (DC) announced the return of Rishabh Pant as their captain. DC will kick start their campaign against Punjab Kings at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Cricket Stadium in Mohali on March 23.

On Tuesday, March 19, DCthe Capitals named Pant as captain for the forthcoming IPL, as he will be taking over the role from David Warner. The 26-year-old is currently taking part in the Capitals’ pre-season camp in Visakhapatnam. His comeback is particularly remarkable as he returns to cricketing action after a long 14-month hiatus following a near-fatal accident in December 2022.

DC took to its official X (formerly Twitter) account to share a new poster welcoming Pant back as captain. According to it, he will resume his duties as a batter but will not don the gloves. “Grit. Determination. Believe. Rishabh Pant,” DC captioned the post.
