Royal Challengers Bengaluru faced off against the Punjab Kings in the sixth match of the Indian Premier League. After winning the toss, RCB chose to field first. Jonny Bairstow was dismissed by Mohammed Siraj. Prabhsimran Singh and Shikhar Dhawan partnered up and stitched a partnership. Later, Sam Curran and Jitesh Sharma replicated the partnership to help their team’s cause. PBKS accumulated 176 runs while losing six wickets, thanks to Shashank Singh’s impressive slogging towards the end.
In response, RCB struggled at the start as their top players Faf du Plessis, and Cameron Green departed early. Their middle-order maverick Glenn Maxwell scored just three runs. Virat Kohli, who filled life into RCB with 77 runs and Rajat Patidar worked together to rebuild the innings. RCB’s talent hunt find, Anuj Rawat was dismissed shortly after. However, Dinesh Karthik and Mahipal Lomror managed to guide RCB to a comfortable win with four wickets remaining. Despite Harpreet’s excellent performance, the PBKS lost the match.
Here are some highlights from RCB vs PBKS Match 6 of IPL 2024:
1. Jonny Bairstow displays buttery fingers as he drops Virat Kohli
It is evident, that Jonny Bairstow has been struggling with his batting form this season. Unfortunately, it only got worse when he dropped Virat Kohli at first slip off the second ball of the innings. The ball went right through his palms and down to short third for four. However, Kohli didn’t stand a chance against the skilful bowling of Sam Curran and the Punjab team. In fact, he was quick to hit four consecutive boundaries and made the PBKS pay for the blunder.

Amidst all the rumours of dropping him ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024, Virat Kohli reached a milestone by achieving his 100th fifty-plus score in the T20s. Despite being dropped by Bairstow at the beginning of his innings, Kohli kept tonking and reached his half-century, which was his 51st in the IPL, in just 31 balls. He has been second to none in T20 cricket, having smashed eight centuries and 92 fifties in total. Among these, he has scored one century and 37 fifties in international matches.

3. Impact Sub Mahipal Lomror shines in nerve-jangler
Coming into bat when Virat Kohli and Anuj Rawat were just dismissed, Lomror got off the mark with a boundary. He then took Arshdeep Singh to the cleaners with a six and a four in the 18th over. With above 11 runs needed per over, he assisted Dinesh Karthik well in RCB’s pursuit of a maiden victory in IPL 2024.

Three overs for 10 runs in the power play for Yash Dayal and that to at the Chinaswamy with the batting team only 1 wicket down is excellent by him.

Veiii adha. DK 28*(10). Top quality finish. Love seeing RCB win at home just to witness the incredible atmosphere at the Chinnaswamy. RCB off the mark. Good news is even with Faf, Green, Maxwell failing they won at home.
