With a few days to kick off the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, veteran India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin seeks help from his previous team Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Notably, Ashwin made his IPL debut with CSK in 2008 and featured for the Chennai-based franchise till 2015.
The 37-year-old took to the microblogging platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) and asked CSK to help him grab tickets for the opening ceremony and the match, stating his children would love to see. Specifically, CSK, the defending champions, will square off against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the curtain raiser at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on March 22.
“Unreal ticket demand for the #CSKvRCB #IPL2024 opener at Chepauk. My kids want to the see opening ceremony and the game. @ChennaiIPL pls help,” Ashwin wrote on X.

Ravichandran Ashwin’s stunning stats in IPL
Ravichandran Ashwin, regarded as one of the most prolific off-spinners of all time, is currently gearing up to play for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2024. After being signed by CSK as a domestic player for the inaugural edition of the IPL in 2008, the Tamil Nadu-born cricketer made his IPL debut in the 2009 season. The 37-year-old represented the Chennai-based franchise for eight seasons in a row till 2015.

He had an unforgettable campaign in IPL 2010 where he picked up 13 wickets and helped CSK win their first IPL title. He helped the side win their second consecutive championship in 2011, claiming a total of 20 wickets. He picked up 90 wickets from 97 matches for the Super Kings. After playing for various other teams, Ashwin was bought by RR in the 2022 IPL auction. He picked up 12 wickets and scored 191 runs in his first season with Rajasthan and helped the side to storm to the final. He is expected to showcase his bowling prowess in the forthcoming tournament as well.
