Mumbai Indians (MI) will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in match 55 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, on Monday, May 6, at the Wankhede Stadium, in Mumbai. In the ongoing tournament, the Indians have started the season slowly as Indians have won three matches and lost eight matches so far. They are almost out of the race for playoffs. They are currently the ninth in the points table, Thus, the Indians also would like to come back to their winning momentum.
On the other hand, the Sunrisers have won six matches and lost four matches so far. They are currently in fourth place in the points table, thus, the Sunrisers would like to continue their winning momentum. Indians would like to take revenge for the last match of these two teams held at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. This will be an important game for both teams concerning the future of the tournament especially for the Sunrisers.
Speaking about the last game of Mumbai Indians, Suryakumar Yadav 56(35) played superb innings but failed to convert his good start into a match-winning innings. MI lost his wicket at the wrong time. He did not get good support from other batters, Total Indians had a poor outing with the bat in the previous game. As a result, they failed to chase an under-par total of 170 in Wankhede against Knight Riders in the previous game.
Besides, MI pacer Jasprit Bumrah (3.5-0-18-3) bowled beautifully and was economical as always which helped Mumbai Indians to restrict Kolkata Knight Riders to 169. Nuwan Thushara (4-0-42-3) also bowled superbly and matched shoulder-to-shoulder with Bumrah. Other bowlers also supported well from all other bowlers, which helped to restrict KKR to under 170. The Hardik Pandya-led side will be hoping all these vital contributions continue ahead along with good support from other batters, especially top-order batters.
Now regarding the last game of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Nithish Reddy (76* off 42) played magnificent Innings which helped the Sunrisers to post a huge total. Travis Head 58(44) who played superbly gave excellent support to Nithish. In the end, Heinrich Klaasen 42*(19) played fantastic finishing innings as a result SRH posted a huge total of 201 against Rajasthan Royals in the previous match.
As a bowling unit, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s skipper Pat Cummins (4-0-35-2) led from the front with the ball which aided in defending the target. Veteran pacer Bhuvaneshwar Kumar (4-0-41-3) who swung the ball up front also bowled superbly and was the key bowler who defended two runs in the last ball giving excellent support to Cummins. SRH also got good support from all the other bowlers, as a result, they defended the target against RR and won the match. For the first time in IPL 2024 team defended the total against RR. Sunrisers will be hoping all these will continue their good form.
