Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will be facing high-flying Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 54th game of the Indian Premier (IPL) League 2024. The game is set to be played out at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, on Sunday, May 5. Both the teams have a great chance of making it into the play-offs of the competition and would be hoping to further strengthen their chances by getting a win in this game.

During the previous encounter between the two teams in Kolkata, the hosts thrashed the Lucknow Super Giants as they clinched an important eight-wicket victory over them. The Lucknow Super Giants would be hopeful for a win and show their class at their home ground this time around. Ahead of this epic clash, let’s have a look at the player battles to watch out for.

Here are the top three player battles to watch out for in LSG vs KKR IPL 2024 clash:

3. Andre Russell vs Ravi Bishnoi

Through the current Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) season, everyone has seen glimpses of the vintage Andre Russell but the all-rounder has not yet had the kind of impact on the team that he would have hoped for. The West Indies international has been performing with the ball when called upon but with the bat, he has not yet had a good impact despite one or two powerful innings.

The task of stopping the tall power-hitting all-rounder would be given to Ravi Bishnoi. Similar to Russell, Bishnoi has not yet had a great season and his poor run has cost him his place in the T20 World Cup squad for Team India. However, the bowler is known for amazing comebacks and would want to scalp the prized wicket of the opposition batter.

2. Marcus Stoinis vs Sunil Narine

At the start of the IPL 2024 season, nobody would have expected such a massive impact on Lucknow Super Giants from Marcus Stoinis. The all-rounder has become the leading batter for the franchise and his great run with the bat has gotten a few wins for the franchise as well.

His biggest task would be to negate the impact of Sunil Narine. The West Indies international has been in stellar form and has been scalping wickets for fun. The variations and his unique action often deceive the opposition batters and they are left with no choice but to give away their wicket cheaply. Narine would also be up against Stoinis when he comes onto bat and the latter has scalped a few crucial wickets for the side and would look to add more to his tally in the upcoming game.

1. KL Rahul vs Mitchell Starc

Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul has not yet had the kind of tournament that everyone expected him to have. The opener is known to have a great season almost every time but he has not been able to live up to his expectations thus far. The batter has been in decent knick off late and would be hoping to make a big one against the Kolkata Knight Riders in what is a must-win game for his side.

Mitchell Starc would be confident coming into this game after a 4-wicket haul against the Mumbai Indians yesterday night. He has a great record against KL Rahul and would be looking to add him to his wicket tally when the two teams clash in Lucknow tomorrow. The winner of this battle might just dictate how the proceedings of the match go.
