The ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season might have seen the last of Deepak Chahar and Mayank Yadav as both players face uncertain futures due to mid-season injuries.

Chahar, the Chennai Super Kings’ key bowler, is grappling with a hamstring injury that forced him out of their recent clash against Punjab Kings. Kasi Viswanathan, the CEO of CSK, expressed concern over Chahar’s condition, stating, “Deepak’s injury is not looking good. I will not say he is ruled out of the season but doubtful”, as quoted by Cricbuzz. With their next match against Punjab Kings looming on Sunday, Chahar’s absence could be a significant setback for CSK.

The Chennai outfit are already dealing with fitness issues among other players. Tushar Deshpande and Matheesha Pathirana are nursing niggles, and their availability for the upcoming match remains uncertain. Following the Wednesday game, Coach Stephen Fleming expressed concern about Chahar’s condition, stating, “Deepak Chahar doesn’t look good. (The) initial feeling wasn’t great, so I’m hoping for a more positive report when the physio and doc have a look.”

Mayank Yadav’s fitness concerns add pressure on LSG’s Playoff bid

Similarly, Mayank Yadav, who impressed with his pace for Lucknow Super Giants earlier in the season, suffered a setback with a resurfacing side strain. Despite being a potential contender for the national team, Mayank’s fitness woes have cast doubt on his further participation in the IPL.

Lucknow, currently with 12 points, are eyeing at least two more wins from their remaining fixtures to secure a spot in the playoffs. However, Mayank’s absence could pose a challenge for the team as they gear up to face Knight Riders on Sunday.

Both CSK and Lucknow, having experienced recent defeats, are in dire need of victories to bolster their positions in the IPL standings. However, the injury setbacks to key players like Chahar and Mayank have added to the uncertainty surrounding their campaigns. As the IPL season progresses, the fate of these players hangs in the balance, leaving fans anxious about their teams’ prospects in the tournament.
