Chennai Super Kings played host to Gujarat Titans in Match 7 of the IPL 2024 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Tuesday. Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to bat first which caught even presenters by surprise. CSK batters did not wait for an invitation and feasted on the Chepauk which displayed batting written all over it. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra were off to a great start as the defending champions piled up 62 runs for the first wicket. Ravindra contributed 46 runs in that partnership before getting dismissed.
However, Ajinkya Rahane failed to provide his touch, but Shivam Dube promoted up the order and compensated for it as he notched 51 off just 23 deliveries. Daryl Mitchell and Sameer Rizvi saw through the death overs and with Ravindra Jadeja getting out on the final delivery, CSK posted a mammoth 206 runs.

GT started off well but soon went out of contention in the run chase. They lost Shubman Gill early on and Wriddhiman Saha too left without any substantial contribution. Deepak Chahar claimed both the wickets and the Titans were in dire need of a comeback. Sai Sudharsan played a slow knock of 37 runs and there was no one to up the ante, Vijay Shankar departed thereafter after an arduous stay. David Miller showed some intent with his 16 ball 21 runs innings. However, GT’s saviours Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan too succumbed as CSK walked away with 63 run victory.
IPL 2024 Points Table
The win against GT meant CSK are perched atop the points table with two wins in the same number of games. The 63-run margin has given them a big boost in Net Run Rate. They are followed by Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders who have one win apiece playing a game each. However, GT have slipped to the sixth position with a win and a loss, their NRR has been majorly dented with the loss in Match 7.

Most Runs in IPL 2024:
Virat Kohli still leads the chart for most runs with 98 runs in two outings. He is closely followed by Punjab’s Sam Curran with 86 runs. However, after the CSK versus GT affair today, on the back of a 46-run innings Rachin Ravindra has decorated the fourth spot with 83 runs. Notably, CSK’s impact specialist Shivam Dube sis spotted spending time in the third position with 85 runs after his blistering knock of 53 runs against GT.

Most Wickets in IPL 2024
Mustafizur Rahman is proving to be a trump card for CSK in IPL 2024. After his exploits in the initial game, he extended his form with two wickets against GT. He is sitting at the top with six wickets and Jasprit Bumrah trailing behind him with three wickets. Deepak Chahar has broken into the table with the sixth position after his two wickets spell against GT. Harpreet Brar holds the third position dearer to him as his unshaken there and Kagiso Rabada is stable at the fourth spot.
