Ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) announced their list of released and retained players on November 26. They released 11 players in total, freeing up a budget of Rs. 15.25 crore in the auction which is among the lowest.
MI, looking to completely revamp their bowling contingent, released some major names. Jofra Archer, Riley Meredith, Jhye Richardson, Duan Jansen, Chris Jordan, Sandeep Warrier, and Arshad Khan were all let go ahead of the IPL 2024 auction.
Apart from the 1166 players in the auction, many names who have registered, play for MI’s sister franchise in the SA20 league, the MI Cape Town and MI can also look at a few bowlers from there to bring into their IPL team.
Here are the 3 players from MI Cape Town Mumbai Indians might target in IPL 2024 auction:
1. Beuran Hendricks

Beuran Hendricks has previous IPL experience as he has turned out for Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings. The left-arm pacer has vast experience in T20s, having played 97 matches and taking 122 wickets with a best of 6/29 and an economy of 8.35.
He has also played for South Africa, taking 25 scalps in 19 T20Is with a best of 4/14. With experience from the first time he played in the Indian Premier League, the left-arm pacer can be a good addition to the MI family in the IPL and bolster their bowling unit.
2. Chris Jordan

Chris Jordan is known for being a very good pacer, capable of hitting speeds at around 150 clicks, a superlative fielder, and can smack sixes with the bat down the order. He has been part of the IPL since 2016 and has played 34 matches, picking 30 wickets with a best of 4/11.
The English pacer has great T20 numbers, with 342 wickets in 328 matches with a best of 4/6 and an economy of 8.58. He has also made 1848 runs with a strike rate of 130. MI have previously trusted Jordan to do the work at the death and he has done well, this time, however, they might buy him for a lower price.
3. George Linde

One talent that MI desperately need is a quality spinner and they can get one from their sister franchise in the SA20 league. George Linde has been excellent for the MI Cape Town and has a good record overall. In 159 T20s, Linde, a left-arm spinner, has 146 wickets with a best of 4/19 and an economy of 7.46. He is capable with the bat as well, scoring 1677 runs.
Linde is a street-smart cricketer who has played in India previously in Tests and ODIs. He knows how to bowl on various surfaces in the country and his experience will enormously help MI in the coming IPL 2024 tournament. He had been very good in SA20, scoring 157 runs in ten matches with one fifty and took 6 wickets at an economy of under eight.
