Gujarat Titans were hammered by Delhi Capitals at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Wednesday, April 17. Rishabh Pant and his side won the contest by six wickets with 57 balls left. This result now has given Delhi their third win of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League 2024 and also bettered their run-rate.
It was a day to forget for the Gujarat Titans team as they were bowled out for a mere 89 runs on the board. This total was their lowest ever in the history of the Indian Premier League.
The next game for Shubman Gill and his side is the return fixture against Punjab Kings at the Mullanpur Stadium in Chandigarh. The young Titans skipper will return to his home city and hope to get his team and their playoff chances back on track.
Here are the three changes Gujarat Titans need to make ahead of their next match:
3. Trying to maximize the chances with the bat during powerplay overs
Gujarat Titans were in deep trouble even before the powerplay overs could be done. They were reduced to 30/4 from 6 overs to stare at their worst ever showing with the bat. The last few games, Gill & Co have been unable to get going in the first six overs of the game.
This has come to haunt the 2022 winners as the opposition bowlers have bowled restrictive lines. Shubman Gill needs to find a new partner and hope to set the stage on fire with their aggressive showing with the bat in the powerplay overs.
2. Need to give Shahrukh Khan a longer rope
Shahrukh Khan was yet again playing as an Impact Player during the game against Delhi Capitals on Wednesday. It is time that the Titans start to trust the burly batter from Tamil Nadu and give him a consistent run in the playing XI.
The Titans are short of a player in the middle-order. The youngster has the ability to deliver the goods not only with the bat, but also with the ball, as his records as a bowler in the domestic circuit speak for themselves.

1. Need to stop over-depending on Rashid Khan
Ever since the departure of Hardik Pandya, Gujarat Titans have depended more on Rashid Khan. The Afghan star hasn’t been able to do the magic with the ball so far this season, which has hurt his team.
The star all-rounder though has done wonders with the bat, which includes his cameo knock against the Royals in a last-ball thriller. To find success, the Titans will have to take the extra burden off Rashid’s shoulders, which allows them to fancy a spot in the Playoffs for the third straight year.
