Yuzvendra Chahal scripted history by becoming the bowler to take the most number of wickets in the history of IPL. In the latest game against Kolkata Knight Riders, Chahal achieved the feat by picking up four wickets and surpassing Chennai Super Kings’ legendary all-rounder Dwayne Bravo’s tally of 183 wickets.
Speaking to Star Sports post-game, the spin wizard revealed his most memorable wicket from the tally of 187 that he has taken so far. He chose the wicket of Pat Cummins at the time when he took his hat-trick as his favourite. Speaking further about the moment the 32-year-old added, “I think If I have to choose, I would pick the hat-trick ball, I always used to see Kuldeep Yadav and other bowlers, and I always wanted to have a hat-trick, especially in a big tournament was very important for me.”
The star Indian Leg spinner dismantled KKR’s middle order by taking crucial wickets at important junctures of the game to restrict the host to a below-par total of 149/8. In reply, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored an unbeaten 98 runs to help RR reach KKR’s total with 41 balls to spare and ensure that RR are still in the hunt for IPL 2023 playoffs.
Further, in Star Sports’ media centre, Harbhajan Singh, Shanthakumaran Sreesanth, and Mohammad Kaif also imitated Chahal’s famous posture, which went viral during the 2019 ODI World Cup. He also recreated his signature position. For the uninitiated, Chahal was a chess player in his earlier years and was later seen joking around with Kaif. Kaif even challenged Chahal to a game of chess.
The Indian Leg spinner has been in superb form in the 2023 edition of the IPL, as he has accounted for 21 wickets in the 12 games played so far at an average of 16.89 and an economy of 7.91. Chahal is currently leading the IPL 2023 Purple Cap race.
