The countdown to arguably the biggest domestic T20 carnival has already begun as the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League will finally get underway with the defending champions Gujarat Titans set to take on four-time champions Chennai Super Kings on March 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Players across ten teams have started sweating it out to be at their absolute best once the season gets underway and Rajasthan Royals’ skipper Sanju Samson is no different either. A video of Samson doing centre-wicket practice has his fans drooling over it.

In the video, the Royals skipper can be seen honing his power hitting skills and taking the bowlers to the cleaners. Samson can be seen opening up the off side and putting the left-arm spinner away over covers. In addition to that, he also struck a few shots effortlessly down the ground and scooped a few over fine leg.

Samson was last seen donning the India jersey in the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka at home in January. He played the first T20I but was later left out of the squad due to a knee injury. He was stupendous both as a batter and as a leader for Royals in the previous edition of the IPL.

Samson led his team to the final of the competition last season but failed to cross the final hurdle as Royals lost to debutants Gujarat Titans.

Samson aggregated 458 runs across 17 matches at a stupendous strike rate of 146.79, including two half-centuries and one unbeaten outing in IPL 2022. His overall IPL numbers are even more impressive as he has scored 3526 runs in 138 fixtures at a strike rate of 135.72. He has hit three centuries and 17 half-centuries in the competition thus far.
