IPL 2023: Play of the day from PBKS vs DC clash

The 64th game of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is featuring a clash between the David Warner-led Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.

Coming into bat first after losing the toss, Delhi Capitals got off to a wondrous start as Prithvi Shaw and skipper David Warner took the attack right to the Punjab bowlers. However, just as the ace Australian batter reached close to completing his half-century, Punjab skipper Shikhar Dhawan executed the play of the day. 

As Shaw attacked the bowlers from one end, Warner made his presence known at the other end to dismantle Punjab’s bowling attack in the powerplay.

The 36-year-old was batting at 46 in 31 balls before he was sent packing by Sam Curran and Shikhar Dhawan, who took a spectacular catch. Curran bowled a well-disguised slower ball to Warner, who looked to hit it down the ground but instead lifted it sky-high. As Dhawan reached to the ball from covers, and made a fantastic dive to catch the ball, dismissing Warner.

Punjab Kings aim to secure playoff spot

Currently, Punjab Kings find themselves in eighth place on the IPL points table with 12 points in just as many games. After their clash against Delhi Capitals, they take on the Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals in the 66th game of the tournament on Friday, May 19. 

If they go on to win the game against the David Warner-led side, Punjab would look to follow it up with yet another win in the last match of the group stage and hope that they can make their way into the knockout stages of the tournament. Shikhar Dhawan has led PBKS decently in the entire season.
