Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni held an honest conversation with star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja following a tumultuous season in 2022. Notably, Dhoni’s long-time deputy, Jadeja was handed over the reins but failed to create the required impact for the side in the previous edition.
After enduring consecutive losses, Dhoni returned as the leader of the franchise for the remainder of the season. However, in the midst of the chaos, Jadeja had reportedly walked out of the team hotel towards the latter phase of the league in Mumbai after losing the captaincy.
As per reports by Cricbuzz, Jadeja had a ‘long frank chat’ with Dhoni and a one-on-one with CEO Kasi Viswanathan after which the ‘air of misunderstanding’ was cleared. The discussions most centred around what irked him regarding the captaincy decision and what he expected going forward.
Apart from the dismal season, Jadeja was also unhappy with the form he maintained in CSK’s campaign as he could only get 116 runs in 10 matches and claimed five wickets. Eventually, the yellow outfit concluded their season as they stood second last in the points table with four wins in 14 outings.
Jadeja will look to come all guns blazing in IPL 2023
On the brighter side, the relationship between the star all-rounder and the franchise has got better since the skipper intervened. In addition to this, Jadeja has already begun sweating it out in the net sessions and will look to come all guns blazing for his side in the forthcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
CSK fans and the management will be delighted with his current form after relishing a terrific outing in the recently concluded series against Australia. Despite being confined to the sidelines owing to an injury, the 34-year-old southpaw swiftly made an impression in the series and garnered much attention for his outstanding performances.
Defending champions Gujarat Titans will play the season opener against four-time winners Chennai Super Kings on Friday, March 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. CSK will play their first home match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Monday, April 3 against Lucknow Super Giants.
