Defending champions Gujarat Titans will look to continue their remarkable campaign in IPL 2023 as they lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday, May 15 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The Hardik Pandya-led side are ranked at the top of the IPL points table with eight wins from 12 matches with 16 points to their name.

Gujarat are coming into this game having lost their previous match against Mumbai Indians by 27 runs. With just two games remaining in the league stage, Gujarat will look to seal their place in the playoffs with a win against SRH. For that, they will once again have to field a strong playing XI against the Aiden Markram-led side:

Here’s Gujarat Titans’ predicted XI against Sunrisers Hyderabad

Openers: Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Shubman Gill

The wicketkeeper-batter has had a great season so far as he has given explosive starts to his side more often than not. Saha has scored 275 runs in 12 innings at an average of 25 and a strike rate of 134.80. In their previous fixture against MI, he got out after scoring just 2 off 5 balls, hence, he will be hungry for a big score against SRH.

Shubman Gill has been in stupendous form this season as he’s the leading run-scorer for GT with 475 runs to his name at an average of 43.18 and a strike rate of 141.36 with four fifties to his name. The 23-year-old also departed cheaply against MI (6 off 9) and hence will look to make amends against SRH.

Middle Order: Vijay Shankar, Abhinav Manohar, David Miller, Rahul Tewatia

He has 234 runs to his name in eight innings at an average of 39 and a strike rate of 163.63. The 32-year-old was looking in fine touch against MI, having scored 29 off 14 balls however his innings was cut short by a beauty from Piyush Chawla.

Abhinav Manohar also departed cheaply against MI after scoring 2 off 3 balls, however, the 28-year-old has proven his big-hitting prowess time and again this season. Manohar will also look to go big against SRH after getting out cheaply against MI.

Miller has played several memorable knocks for his side this season having amassed 242 runs from 10 innings at an average of 48.40 and a strike rate of 151.25. The southpaw will look to continue his form against SRH as well.

Rahul Tewatia has built a reputation for going for big shots right from the word go and finishing matches for his side from unwinnable positions. The southpaw has a strike rate of 175 this season and will look to give another memorable finish to his side against SRH.

All-rounders: Hardik Pandya (c)

The GT captain has scored 281 runs in 11 innings this season at an average of 31.22 and a strike rate of 130.69. With the ball, he’s picked just three wickets at an average of 63. The all-rounder will look to get back into form heading into the playoffs.

Bowlers: Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmad, Mohammed Shami, Mohit Sharma

Mohammed Shami had a rare bad outing against MI as he gave away 53 runs in four overs. However, the right-arm seamer has had a great season so far having picked up 19 wickets from 12 innings at an average of 19.14 and an economy of 7.74. The fast bowler will look to once again bring his ‘A game’ to the fore against MI.

After bamboozling the batters for the first seven games, Noor Ahmad was taken to the cleaners against MI, giving away 38 runs from four overs. The left-arm spinner has picked up 11 wickets at an average of 19.45 and an economy of 7.29. He will once again look to outfox batters with his variations against SRH.

Despite his valiant efforts, GT ended up losing the game. Rashid has the Purple Cap on his head as he is the leading wicket-taker of the season so far with 23 wickets to his name. The wrist-spinner will look to add more wickets to his tally against SRH and further strengthen his position at the top.
