Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will square off against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), in Match 58 of the ongoing India Premier League (IPL) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, in Hyderabad, on Saturday, May 13. Both teams have met twice in the cash-rich league, with LSG winning on both occasions.
SRH have had a dreadful season so far as they currently sit second from the bottom of the IPL 2023 points table. To remain in the playoff race, they need to win all of their remaining matches. LSG, on the other hand, are in fifth place with 11 points, which means that now they have to win their remaining three games for an easier route to qualify while at least two wins will prove to be enough to secure a spot in the top four.
On May 7, the Aiden Markram-led side registered a thumping win over the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the highest chase at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Meanwhile, LSG suffered a devastating 56-run defeat to the defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) on May 7, at the Narendra Modi Stadium, in Ahmedabad.
A win with a good NRR will help SRH climb to a higher position in the points table. Meanwhile, if LSG win, they will move up to the third place. Hence, fans will be hoping for an exciting contest in Hyderabad, as SRH and LSG strive for victory.
Pitch and Conditions
In limited-overs cricket, the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium is an excellent place to bat first because the pitch will aid medium-pace and spin bowlers in the second innings. The surface is often dry and tough as it will help bowlers with bounce and spin. The skipper winning the toss at this venue will prefer to bat first to post a huge total and build pressure on the opposition.
Probable Playing XI for SRH vs LSG
Sunrisers Hyderabad
SRH will very certainly field the same lineup that defeated the Royals. Harry Brook is not expected to be named to the playing XI for the forthcoming match. Anmolpreet Singh will likely replace Mayank Agarwal in the top order, who has had a poor run of form so far this season.
Probable Playing XI: Anmolpreet Singh, Abhishek Sharma, Rahul Tripathi, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Aiden Markram (c), Abdul Samad, Marco Jansen, Vivrant Sharma, Mayank Markande, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan
Lucknow Super Giants
LSG have been severely damaged by the absence of their regular captain, KL Rahul, who has been ruled out of the IPL 2023 owing to an injury. They are likely to create room for Naveen-ul-Haq or Mark Wood in the lineup.
Probable Playing XI: Kyle Mayers, Quinton de Kock (wk), Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni, Swapnil Singh, Krunal Pandya (c), Yash Thakur, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohsin Khan, Avesh Khan
