However, in the encounter against Delhi Capitals, Mumbai played some exhilarating cricket and trumped David Warner & Co. by six wickets in a last-ball thriller. The five-time IPL champions would look to ride on the winning momentum and conquer KKR in the forthcoming clash.

Here’s Mumbai Indians’ predicted XI against Kolkata Knight Riders

Openers: Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan (wk)

Rohit Sharma is a giant of a player in the Indian Premier League. He has featured in 230 IPL games and amassed 5966 runs at a strike rate of 129.87. Further, the 35-year-old has been an astute tactician of the game and guided Mumbai Indians to five IPL triumphs.

When Mumbai clashed against Delhi Capitals, Rohit put up an exhibition of his glorious stroke play and hammered 65 runs off 45 deliveries. The team management would hope the veteran batter plays in the same vein in the forthcoming matches of the cash-rich league.

Talking about Ishan Kishan, the 24-year-old has been a proven performer in the IPL arena. He has featured in 78 matches and plundered 1943 runs at a strike rate of 131.91. The Southpaw would look to show his class in the encounter against Knight Riders.

Middle Order: Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, Nehal Wadhera, Tim David

Mumbai possesses Tilak Varma in their arsenal. Tilak is an up-and-coming talent from the Indian domestic circuit. He has been in pristine touch in the ongoing IPL edition and hammered 147 runs in three matches at a stunning strike rate of 158.06. The youngster would look to carry on the good work for Rohit & Co.

Also, MI have Suryakumar Yadav in the mix.  The ace batter has decimated bowling attacks with his 360-degree stroke play and established his supremacy on the cricket field. However, he has been a pale shadow of his vintage self in the 2023 IPL edition and scored only 16 runs in three outings. The 32-year-old would look to put his best foot forward in the upcoming game.

Moreover, the five-time IPL champions have the services of Nehal Wadhera and Tim David in the middle order. Nehal has shown glimpses of brilliance in the domestic circuit and would look to make it big in the marquee tournament. Talking about David, he is a ferocious striker of the cricket ball and would be entrusted to finish games for the Mumbai side.

All-rounder: Cameron Green

Cameron Green is one of the promising all-rounders in the Australian cricketing circles. He has taken the attack to the opposition right from the get-go and blasted 139 runs in eight games at an astonishing strike rate of 173.75. Further, he has been a wily customer with the ball and chipped in timely breakthroughs.

Green, with his ability to contribute in both departments, is an asset to any side. Therefore, Mumbai Indians went bonkers to sign him at the IPL 2023 auction and eventually picked him for INR 17.50 crore. However, the Australian all-rounder has not been able to justify his price tag thus far.

Green has been mediocre with the bat and has managed only 34 runs in three outings. On the bowling front, he has conceded runs at an alarming rate of 10.00 and managed to take only a wicket. Cameron would look to redeem himself in the matches to come.

Bowlers: Piyush Chawla, Jofra Archer, Arshad Khan, Jason Behrendorff

Mumbai have veteran spinner Piyush Chawla in their repertoire. He has been a prominent figure in the lucrative T20 tournament. The leg-spinner has featured in 168 matches and bagged 161 wickets at an economy of 7.86. He has been superb with the ball in the 16th IPL edition and picked up four wickets in three games at an economy of 6.75.

In the fast-bowling department, Mumbai Indians have Jofra Archer, Arshad Khan and Jason Behrendorff in their ranks. Archer is known to unsettle batters with his express pace and wreak havoc with the ball. He would look to bring his A-game into play in the ongoing season and help propel MI to the top half of the IPL 2023 points table.

Arshad Khan has been counted upon to trouble batters with his swing and set the tone with the ball. However, he has been dismal in his outings and managed to take only a wicket at an economy of 13.63. Coming to Behrendorff, the Australian pacer has been a seasoned performer in the T20 circuit and bagged 142 wickets in 122 games at an economy of 7.35.

Mumbai Indians (MI) probable XI:

Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan (wk), Cameron Green, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Nehal Wadhera, Tim David, Arshad Khan, Piyush Chawla, Jofra Archer, Jason Behrendorff

Mumbai Indians (MI) probable impact players:
