The most awaited Indian Premier League 2023 has come to a fag end; after playing as many as 70 games, the four deserving teams, Gujarat Titans, Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians, have all advanced to the knock-out stages.

The IPL 2023 has broken many records, from the most centuries in a single season to the most 200+ scores recorded in a season and to the most 200+ scores chased in a single season and so on. All four teams, who all advanced to the next round, will look to finish the tournament on high. Gujarat Titans take on Chennai Super Kings in the Qualifier-1, while Lucknow Super Giants will take on Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator; both games are scheduled to play on May 23 and May 24 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Top Performers:

Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis has been the most impressive batter in the season, as he takes the first spot for leading-run scorer with 730 runs in 14 games at a stupendous average of 56.15, while Gujarat Titans’ opener Shubman Gill takes the second spot with 680 runs at an average of 56.67. Indian cricketing sensation Virat Kohli is third on the list with 639 runs at an average of 53.25.

In the bowling department, Rashid Khan and Mohammed Shami share the first spot with 24 wickets in 14 games, with Shami averaging 17.66 while Rashid Khan averages 18.25. The purple cap holder of the 2022 edition, Yuzvendra Chahal, takes the second spot with 21 wickets in 14 games. The third spot is shared between Piyush Chawla, Varun Chakravarthy and Tushar Deshpande, with 20 wickets each.

Meanwhile, let us look at some of the amazing stats and numbers created and broken in IPL 2023:

7263 – Virat Kohli became the first and only player in the history of IPL to score 7000 runs.

11 – A total of 11 centuries were recorded in IPL 2023; this is the most number of centuries recorded in an IPL Season. The previous eight centuries were recorded in IPL 2022.

4 – MI has chased a total of 200 or more four times, which is the most by a team in an IPL Season.

5 – RCB conceded 200+ totals for five times in IPL 2023, the most by any team in an IPL season. PBKS previously conceded 4 200+ in 2014, while RR and KKR conceded 4 200+ totals in 2018.

35 – A total of 200 or more has been scored for 35 times in IPL 2023. Season 2022 holds the second-best with 18 200+ scores.

7 – Virat Kohli registered his seventh IPL century, becoming the player with the most centuries in IPL. Chris Gayle is next on the list with six hundreds.

939 – Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis together scored 939 runs in IPL 2023; this is the joint most partnership runs by a pair in an IPL Season, equalling the tally of Virat Kohli/ AB de Villiers 939 in IPL 2016.

1066 – A total of 1066 runs have been recorded in IPL 2023, the most number sixes hit in the season overall. Previously 1062 sixes were hit in the 2022 season, and that is second on the list.

730 – Faf du Plessis registered 730 runs in the IPL 2023, becoming the third RCB player to achieve this feat. Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli are the other two to achieve this feat earlier.

625 – Yashasvi Jaiswal aggregated 625 runs in IPL 2023; this is the most runs scored by an uncapped player in an IPL season. Shaun Marsh previously scored 616 runs in IPL 2008.

5 – Jos Buttler became the first player to record five ducks in an IPL Season.

17 – Dinesh Karthik now has 17 ducks in IPL, which is the most by any player in IPL. Rohit Sharma is second on the list with 16 ducks.

5022 – Rohit Sharma became the second player after Virat Kohli to achieve the feat of scoring 5000 runs for a single franchise. Rohit Sharma completed 5000 runs for MI in IPL.

257/5 – LSG recorded a total of 257 against PBKS; this is the second-highest total in the history of IPL. RCB’s 263/5 against PWI in 2013 is first on the list.

187 – Yuzvendra Chahal completed 187 wickets and became the leading-wicket taker in IPL history.

13 – Yashasvi Jaiswal registered his fifty in 13 balls against KKR, the fastest fifty in IPL history, surpassing KL Rahul and Pat Cummin’s record of 14 balls.

2 – GT became the just second team after Mumbai Indians to top the points table in consecutive seasons. MI topped the points table in IPL 2019 and 2020, while GT topped the points table in 2022 and 2023.
